- Team GB don’t have any representatives in the Paris 2024 Olympics football
- The men’s team have competed at just one Olympics – London 2012 – since 1960
- ChatGPT calculated what GB’s squad would look like if they were competing
Artificial intelligence platform ChatGPT has predicted what Team GB’s men’s football team would look like at the 2024 Olympics if they were competing this summer.
The topic of sending a British football team to the Olympics has long been a contentious issue, with the men’s presence in London 2012 the only games they have competed at since 1960.
12 years ago, the likes of Ryan Giggs, Craig Bellamy, Micah Richards, Jack Butland, Daniel Sturridge and Aaron Ramsey were among the names in action, with Stuart Pearce’s side crashing out in the quarter-finals on penalties to South Korea.
The major difficulty in getting a GB team together is the fact that England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have struggled to come to an agreement on competing.
However, in another world they could have a team in Paris this summer and as per the Daily Star, ChatGPT has selected a potential 17-man squad.

According to the AI platform, England star Marc Guehi would be selected in the 17-man squad
Anthony Gordon, who struggled for minutes at Euro 2024, would join the Crystal Palace star
Firstly, to be available to play, any prospective squad members must have been born on or after January 1, 2001 so that they are in the Under 23 age group, although three overage players can be picked.
And, Chat GPT’s Team GB squad included two Championship goalkeepers, with Burnley’s James Trafford and Norwich’s Angus Gunn – who played at Euro 2024 for Scotland – the men selected.
In terms of the three overage players, Three Lions star Marc Guehi, West Ham’s James Ward-Prowse, and Scottish forward Lyndon Dykes were picked.
However, both England and Crystal Palace may have something to say about Guehi featuring in another tournament this summer after he played six times while stepping in for the injured Harry Maguire at Euro 2024.
Ward-Prowse, 29, would likely be captain given his experience, although the last of the midfielder’s 11 England caps came back in 2022.
In defence, Guehi was joined by Ben Johnson, Levi Colwill and Neco Williams, with Johnson and Colwill both members of the England Under 21 squad who won the Euros in 2023.
In midfield, fellow Euro Under 21 winners Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Jacob Ramsey earned a place in Chat GPT’s team and they are complemented by new Nottingham Forest signing Elliot Anderson and Reading’s Charlie Savage, son of Robbie.

James Ward-Prowse was one of three overage players in the squad and could captain the side
On an international level, Anderson has been chased by both Scotland and England, although he was called-up to the Tartan Army’s squad last season before withdrawing through injury and for these purposes he qualifies as a Scottish representative in the squad.
There are further England Under 21 Euros winners in attack with Anthony Gordon and Morgan Gibbs-White, after Gordon played just one minute for the Three Lions at Euro 2024.
Welsh star Brennan Johnson and new Ipswich signing Liam Delap joined Dykes in the other striking options.
In total, the AI-produced team has 11 Englishmen, three Scots and three Welshmen.
